A Bill To
allocate funds toward the purchase of a color laser printer to be
used by Student Organizations. BE IT ENACTED BY THE STUDENT SENATE OF CAPITAL UNIVERSITY: Section 1.That Student Government is charged "To serve as an advocate for student organizations." (Capital University Student Government Constitution, Article V, Section IV) Section 2.That Student Organizations must currently utilize off?campus resources for the production of color?printed materials at forprofit rates, thus the said purchase may save both the time and monetary resources of Student Organizations. Section 3.That the said purchase will complement and be enhanced by the current hardware and software already available for Student Organization use within the Student Activities Office. Section 4.That a color laser printer will enable Student Organizations to produce signs, fliers, newsletters, and other promotional materials conducive to an active and involved student body, thereby enhancing the overall experience of Capital students. Section 5.That the amount of $1,600 shall be allocated from the General Fund toward said purchase. Section 6.That the Student Life Committee shall appropriate $75 and the Student Activities Subcommittee shall appropriate $25 for said purchase. Section 7.That the Student Activities Office shall pay the balance of said purchase beyond the $1,700 allocated by Student Government and the Secretary of Student Life shall actively assist the Student Activities Office in executing the said purchase. Section 8.That the Student Activities Office shall determine the price per page at which Student Organizations may utilize the color laser printer. The Student Activities Office shall be responsible for the maintenance of said printer, including the purchase of all associated materials (including ink cartridges). The said printer shall be housed within the Student Activities Office and be connected to a resource computer located there. Section 9.That if the said purchase is not executed by January 31, 2003, all monies hereby allocated shall revert to their respective sources.
