A Bill
To
properly establish an Elections Management Team.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE STUDENT SENATE OF CAPITAL UNIVERSITY:
Section I.
That...
Section I. of Article V should read as follows:
The
Elections Management Team shall ensure that the elections for
the offices of President, Vice President, and for the Senate run
smoothly and fairly, thus placing accountability on all individuals
involved.
- Organization

The
Elections Management Team will be comprised of seven (7)
members.

The President who will act as chair will appoint these members.

The
vice-chair will be decided by the following criteria: (s)he
will be either a graduating senior, or a junior or sophomore
who agrees to waive his/her right to run for election for
student government in the upcoming year.

The
President will be the chair unless (s)he fails to meet the
criteria. In this case, the Vice-President will be the chair.
- If
the Vice-President does not meet the criteria, then the line
of succession will be the following:

Speaker
- Clerk
- Floor
Leader
- Committee

- Academic
Affairs,
- Finance
- Multi-cultural
Affairs
- Student
Interests

Life
- The
Election Management Team is to be formed by the first meeting
of the spring semester.
- Duties
-
The
Elections Management Team must concoct and distribute the
election packets with all pertinent materials.

Organizing
and posting the candidates statements of intents.

The
Elections Management Team shall hold the Presidential and
Vice Presidential Forum.

Members
of the Elections Management Team will be stationed at the
voting booth during all hours of the election.

Members
of the Elections Management Team appointed by the Co-Chairmen
will tabulate and post the results.

The
Elections Management Team is responsible for any duties
that may come up through out the election process.
- The
Elections Management Team shall ensure that the elections for
the offices of President, Vice President, and for the Senate run
smoothly and fairly, thus placing accountability on all individuals
involved.

That..."To
form an elections committee whenever necessary" be stricken
from Article IV, Section VIII, C, 2.
Section III.
That
...This amendment is to take affect immediately upon its passage
of the Senate and its signing by the President.
