The Photosmart scanner will scan photos (up to 5 x 7), negatives,
and slides. Once scanned, these images can be incorporated into
web pages, PowerPoint presentations, and other documents.
- On Photosmart Scanner unit, choose the image type you are going
to scan (slides, negatives, photo). To change your selection,
push the button on the scanner unit located under the three images
until the green light is under your desired selection.
- On the desktop, double click the HP Film Scanner S20
icon.
- In the "Photo Type" field, choose the type of photo, slide,
or negative you are going to be scanning. Depending on the type
of image you have selected on the scanning unit, there will be
different choices in the drop-down menu.
- After choosing the photo type, choose the scan resolution for
saving the picture. The lower number of DPI's (Dots per inch)
the less clear the image will be. The higher the number, the sharper
it will be. Remember also, more DPI's means more memory will be
needed to store that image.
- Read the scanner directions (located on the Photosmart scanner)
on inserting your image. Make sure it is in inserted properly
and do NOT force it in. If you have it inserted properly, the
scanner will slide the image in itself.
(NOTE: The emulision side of the slide or negative is the non-reflective
side.)
- The scanner will automatically scan the picture and display
the image in the preview scan window. Here you can adjust various
qualities of the image to your liking. To change the name of the
picture, click on the name under the image. Highlight the name
and then press delete and enter the desired name.
- When you are satisfied with how the image looks, click final
scan to save the image. A save window box will pop up and give
you choices of where you would like to save the image. Choose
where and then click save.
- After scanning is finished, the image is automatically ejected
from the machine.
