HINTS
  • If you have more than one image, scan and save them all before FTP-ing.
  • You can click and drag a box around the portion of your image that you wish to save. Next, click on IMAGE - CROP - TO MASK to get rid of extra space and reduce the size of your saved file. (Do this BEFORE saving your image).
  • DON'T FORGET TO RETRIEVE YOUR ITEM FROM THE SCANNER AND REMOVE YOUR DISK FROM THE FLOPPY DRIVE!

Library, Math or Nursing Scanner Instructions

  1. Place the image face down in the upper right corner of the scanner and close the lid.
  2. To simply scan & save your image, press the GREEN button at the scanner base. This opens the "HP Precision Scan Pro" window displaying scanned image.
  3. You may need to select OUTPUT TYPE from the menu to set the desired output for your image. Some possible choices include:
    • True Color---output selection as a 24-bit color image.
    • Grayscale---output selection as an 8-bit grayscale image.
    • Text---output selection as editable text.
  4. Click the scanned image to show the selection area (dotted lines). The selection area may be adjusted to a specific area of your image. Point to the dotted lines (double-arrow) & click & drag the dotted lines to your desired position. This creates a border around the image you wish to save & eliminates any excess background from the saved image.
  5. Click the [ZOOM SCAN] button (or click ZOOM from the SCAN menu) to rescan & enlarge your selection area.
  6. Click the [SAVE AS] button (or click SAVE AS from the SCAN menu) to open the "Save As" window.
  7. Three items are required for saving your image:
    • Enter a name for your image into the "Filename" text box.
    • Click the drop-down arrow for the "Save As Type" list & select a graphic format for your image. JPEG is recommended for color images & GIF for black & white images.
    • Click the drop-down arrow for the "Save In:" list & choose a location for saving your image (this is usually the floppy disk, drive-A).
  8. Once the 3 items above have been selected, click the [SAVE] button to store image.
  9. Repeat steps 1-8 for any additional images.
  10. When complete, close the "HP Precision Scan Pro" window. Don't forget to retrieve your image from the scanner & to remove your disk from drive-A.
