ACC-4000 Audio Cassette Duplicator
|
 |
The Audio Cassette Duplicator is used to make one, two, or three
simultaneous duplicate copies of standard audio cassettes. The ACC-4000
copies one or both sides, and copies in stereo.
Operation of the cassette duplicator:
- Turn the duplicator on. The power switch is located on the back
panel directly below the center of the unit. It is a rocker switch;
depress the right half of the switch (as felt from the front of
the unit) to turn the machine on.
- Load the cassettes into the machine. Insert the ORIGINAL tape
into the LOWER LEFT cassette chamber, the one with the red label
marked "ORIG". Load the blank tape(s) into any of the remaining
chambers, the ones with the black labels marked "COPY".
CAUTION: Cassettes loaded into the "COPY" chambers WILL
BE ERASED. The ACC 4000 Duplicator ignores the erase-protection
notches in the back of the cassette. Be careful! DO NOT load your
original cassette into the "COPY" chamber. Insert original cassettes
into the LOWER LEFT "ORIG" chamber only!
- Determine the type of duplication you wish to perform and set
the control switches accordingly:
- To copy one side of the cassette only, press the Side
Select button until the green "A" indicator lights.
- To copy both sides of the cassette, press the Side Select
button until the green "AB" indicator lights.
- Under normal circumstances, make certain that the green
"Auto" indicator is lit. If it isn't, press the Auto/Manual
select switch.
- Verify that all four record level controls are set to the
center position.
- Press the round Copy button.
At this point, the tapes will rewind, the machine will stop, then
copying will automatically begin. When the tape runs out, the
machine will stop, and all tapes will automatically rewind.
- Check for good recording
Check the three red "Short Tape" lights. If one of the "Short
Tape" indicators is illuminated and there is a tape in the corresponding
chamber, it means that tape ran out before the original was finished.
In other words, the end will be cut off. Try again with a longer
blank tape. Note that if the chamber is empty, the "short tape"
indicator will come on; this is normal.
It is a good idea to play back a portion of the copy on a cassette
player to make sure the copy was successful.
- Remove the tapes from the machine, turn off the power, and replace
the dust cover.
Special Situation: A+A -> AB
The instructions above are for copying one or both sides of a cassette
automatically. Sometimes this is not what you want. For example,
you can copy one side of each of two originals onto a single cassette.
To do this, begin by setting the Auto/Manual mode to Manual.
In manual mode, pressing the COPY button only initiates the
copy, without rewinding the tape first, and while the tape will
still stop at the end, it will not automatically rewind. So load
the first original into the "ORIG" chamber and the blank tapes into
the "COPY" chambers, and press Rewind to rewind all of the
tapes. Make sure the Side Select is set to A, and
press COPY. The tapes will stop once the first side has been
copied. Now turn the copy tapes over, and put the second original
into the "ORIG" chamber, and repeat the process to copy the second
side.
A word about cassettes:
Bulk cassettes for duplication are available in the IT for a nominal
charge in 60, 90, and 120-minute lengths. The various tape lengths
may be identified by looking at the colored stripes on the clear
leader:
- C-60 (30 minutes/side): Red stripe, $1.00
- C-90 (45 minutes/side): Blue stripe, $1.50
- C-120 (60 minutes/side): Yellow stripe, $2.00
