Ellison Lettermachine Die Cutter
Information Technology

The Ellison Lettermachine die cutter allows you to produce letters and shapes cut into a variety of materials.

1. Prepare your materials.

The Lettermachine die cutter can handle materials up to about 5-1/2" wide. Trim your materials down to this width using the paper cutter or scissors.

2. Insert die and material into cutter

Select the desired die, and place it rubber side down on top of the material to be cut. Raise the handle of the machine to the full vertical position. Slide the die and material into the die cutter so that the top of the die is completely covered by the pressure plate inside the machine.

3. Cut your materials.

Bring the handle of the machine down far enough for the die to cut through the material, then raise the handle to its full vertical position. CAUTION: After cutting, keep a firm grip on the handle as you raise it, as it could spring back and cause injury.

4. Remove your die-cut materials.

Slide the die and the die-cut materials out of the machine.

Usage notes

Ellison claims that their dies and Lettermachine will cut anything that can be cut with scissors. They also claim that any of their dies will cut through four thicknesses of construction paper. The exact number of pieces that can be cut in the machine will vary with the complexity of the shape and the thickness of the material. That said, here is a guide which you might find useful:
