Setting
up the conference telephone:
Unpack
the conference telephone and the wall module power supply. The wall
module has two cords attached to it. One of the cables ends in a wide
RJ-45 plug similar to an Ethernet (computer network) plug. Connect this
cable to the conference telephone. The connector is beneath the leg
opposite the keypad, and it is the only connector where the plug will
fit. Plug the wall module into a convenient electrical outlet or power
strip.
If you
wish to use the external microphones, for example, if you are seated
at a long table, connect the microphone to its cable (looks like a telephone
cord) and connect the microphone cables to the conference telephone.
The connectors are located on the bottom of the unit, under the legs
adjacent to the dial pad.
Determine
whether you have an analog telephone line available. If you are connecting
to a household telephone system, or if I.T. has supplied you with an
analog jack, connect the telephone cable from the wall module directly
to the analog telephone jack. Refer to the operating
instructions for use with an analog telephone line.

If you
are using a digital telephone line, you must connect through the handset
of a digital telephone set. If there is a typical campus telephone in
the room, proceed as follows:
Connect
the telephone cable from the wall module to the large "DATA>"
jack on the end of the Konference adapter.
Disconnect
the coiled handset cord from the telephone handset and plug it into
the small "<HAND SET" jack on the end of the Konference
adapter.
Connect
the straight cord coming out of the Konference adapter to the telephone
handset.
Plug
the "wall wart" power supply into a convenient outlet or
power strip, and connect it to the power jack on the end of the Konference
adapter.
Proceed
with the operating instructions for use with a
digital telephone.
Operation
on an analog telephone line:
To seize
the telephone line, press the ON/OFF button.
To dial,
use the numeric keypad.
To adjust
the volume, use the VOL keys
To silence
the microphones so that the person at the other end cannot hear you,
press the MUTE button on the conference telephone or on either
of the external microphones.
To end
the call, press the ON/OFF button
Operation
with a digital telephone set:
Press the
ON/OFF button to activate the conference telephone. This will
deactivate the telephone handset.
Remove
the handset from the telephone set cradle, and use the digital telephone
set to dial your call. Do not hang up the handset once you are
connected! You cannot dial using the keypad on the conference
telephone; you must use the digital telephone to dial your call.
To adjust
the volume, use the VOL keys. You may also have to adjust the
volume on the telephone set.
To silence
the microphones so that the person at the other end cannot hear you,
press the MUTE button on the conference telephone or on either
of the external microphones.
To end
the call, hang up the telephone handset. Press the ON/OFF button
to restore normal handset operation.
