• The Instructor's PC should be ON. If not, make sure there are no disks in the computer and press the power button to boot the computer.

• To activate the ceiling projector:
  
  
  1. Point the remote towards the ceiling projector.
  2. Press the RED Power button on the remote.
  3. Look for some light to shine through the lens of the projector. After a couple minutes of warming up, the projector should display whatever is showing on the Instructor PC monitor.
     
     

• To activate the Link System screen:
  
  
  1. The Link System works as a touch-sensitive screen. If the screen is dark, gently touch the screen with your entire hand (I usually rub my hands together first since it seems to prefer a warm hand).
  2. After a couple seconds the screen should be visible.
     
     

• Basic Layout of Link System Screen:
  
  
  1. The Left Side:
     • lists available commands.
     • divided into 2 groups: "Cmd Set A" and "Cmd Set B".
     • Press desired "Cmd Set" tab to display corresponding command set.
     
     
     
  2. The Right side:
     • shows PC layout of classroom with PC's 1-15 on the left side, PC's 16-25 on the right side, and PC 26 up front beside the scanner.
       
       

• Basic Operations for Projection through the Link System:
  
  
  • To Project Instructor's PC:
  1. Press screen tab for "Cmd Set B".
  2. Press screen button for "Instructor to Projector".
  
  
  
  • To Preview a Student PC on Instructor's PC:
    1. Press screen tab for "Cmd Set B".
    2. Press screen button for the PC you wish to view.
    3. Letter "R" should display inside the PC icon. Info from corresponding PC should now display on the Instructor's PC.
    
    
    
  • To Project a Student PC:
    1. Press screen tab for "Cmd Set B".
    2. Press screen button for the PC you wish to project.
    3. Letter "R" should display inside the PC icon. Info from corresponding PC should now display on the Instructor's PC.
    4. Press screen button for "Trainee to Projector"
       
       

• Additional Link System Operations:
  
  
  • To Transmit Instructor's PC display to ALL computers:
    1. Press screen tab for "Cmd Set A".
    2. Press screen button for "Transmit All".
    3. Letter "T" should display inside each PC icon. Students will see the projected info on their own PC monitor and will NOT be able to work on their own computer.
    
    
    
  • To Blank display of ALL computers:
    1. Press screen tab for "Cmd Set A".
    2. Press screen button for "Blank All".
    3. All computer screens will go black & the keyboard and mouse on each computer will NOT be functional.
    
    
    
  • To Freeze keyboard & mouse of ALL computers:
    1. Press screen tab for "Cmd Set A".
    2. Press screen button for "Freeze All".
    3. A small "K" & mouse symbol will display beside each PC icon. The keyboard and mouse on each PC will NOT be functional.
       
       

• Leaving the Lab:
  
  
  • Turn the Projector Off:
    1. Point the remote towards the ceiling projector.
    2. Press the RED button on the remote.
    3. Projection should cease & unit will power itself off once it cools.
  • Leave the computers On.
  • Leave the Link System On (disk remains in Link System unit).
  • Turn lights Off (Also good idea to erase the board if you've used it).
  • Close & Lock the Lab Door.
    

Possible Problems & Troubleshooting Tips

• There is no 3-1/2" floppy disk in the Link System unit
  1. Call the I.T. Help Desk at x6508 to have a new disk brought over to the lab.



• There is no projection to the screen once the ceiling projector is On

1. Try pointing the remote towards the ceiling projector and press the remote button marked "computer".
2. If that doesn't work, then press the tab for "Cmd Set B" on the Link System screen and then press the button for "Instructor to Projector".
3. If there is still no screen projection, call the I.T. Help Desk at x6508 for additional assistance.
