Getting
Started Using Blackboard
Student
Instructions
|
 |
Once
a student is entered into the Blackboard database, any Capital
web course in which they are enrolled can be accessed using
their assigned Blackboard UserName & Password. Students
NEW to Blackboard need to follow the instructions below to (1)
check & possibly change their E-mail address, and (2)
change their assigned Blackboard password.
- Display
the Blackboard Welcome page at http://blackboard.capital.edu.
(You can access Blackboard from the IT web page or use
the above address directly).
- Click
the [LOGIN] button.
using your Blackboard User Name & Password you were assigned.
- Click
the [LOGIN] button. The MY INSTITUTION page should display
with information pertaining to your Blackboard account.
- Click
the [STUDENT TOOLS] button in the Navigation Area of Blackboard
(left side frame) and then select the CHANGE YOUR
INFORMATION icon.
- Check
your E-mail address to insure that it's correct. If you
more frequently use an account other than your Capital E-mail
account, change the text box to that E-mail address.
- Scroll
down & click the [UPDATE USER INFORMATION] button.
(Do NOT put anything in the PERSONAL INFORMATION area).
- Click
the word BACK from the Blackboard window.
- Select
the CHANGE YOUR INFORMATION icon again. Scroll down and
type in a new password and then enter it again for verification.
The password should be something easy to remember. (You
can use your Capital E-mail password).
- Click
the [UPDATE PASSWORD] button.
- To
access the Blackboard manual, click the [STUDENT TOOLS]
button and select the STUDENT MANUAL icon. The manual has
all the information you probably need to become familiar
with the Blackboard system. You can even download it as
a file to read off-line or to print for reference.
- Explore
& enjoy!! Click some buttons and get a good look around.
Be sure to click the [LOGOUT] button when you are ready
to exit Blackboard.
