How to Set Privacy Options in Blackboard

As a Blackboard student, you're able to choose what information from your user profile should be publicly available.

  1. Access Blackboard from your web browser at http://blackboardoln.capital.edu and login to Blackboard.
  2. Click the Personal Information link in the Tools list.
  3. From the Personal Information screen, click the Set Privacy Options link.
  4. In the Personal Information section, click the check boxes for the information you wish to make available to other Blackboard users.
    NOTE --By default, your name is listed in the roster and group pages (if applicable) of any course in which you enrolled. Also, your E-mail address will appear with any message you post to a discussion board, unless the message is posted anonymously.

  5. Under the User Directory Status section, click the check box if you wish to be listed in the Blackboard User Directory.
    CAUTION: By checking this box, the information you selected in the Personal Information section will be available to ALL Blackboard users upon accessing the Blackboard User Direectory.
  6. Click the Submit button to finish.
  7. An update window will display. Click the OK button.
