Orientation Service Project Side Trip
Sunday, August 27
12-5pm
Calling all new students! Join us for a service experience in the Columbus area while getting to know Community Service staff and other new students. Projects include making ribbons for the Columbus AIDS Task Force for their upcoming AIDS Walk, and helping a differently-abled person with yardwork through Goodwill Columbus. Transportation will be provided to and from Capital. Sign-up for this service project will take place through the Orientation program at orientation@capital.edu. Start your year off on the right foot!
Service Leader Retreat
Saturday, September 8-Sunday, September 9
Students interested in getting involved in service organizations and having new leadership experiences are encouraged to join us as we connect with fellow like-minded students, engage in community service together, and plan for a great year of service at Capital! To participate, students should sign up in the Community Service & Leadership Development (CSLD) Office, located on 1 st floor Harry C. Moores Campus Center. Transportation provided.

The CSLD Office will provide transportation and a great chance to provide needed help to the Columbus community once a month on Saturdays! Interested students should sign up on the CSLD Office door one week in advance, and show up at the appointed time ready to serve!
Fall Community Service Fair

Rain location: Schneider Multipurpose Room/PO Lobby of Campus Center
This is a great opportunity for students to connect with a variety of community service opportunities in the Columbus area! Over 35 local nonprofit agencies will have representatives at the fair to discuss volunteer opportunities and possible internships with you. Free pizza and cookies! Enter a raffle to win a $25 Best Buy card!
Winter Coat Drive
October 8-31
The annual Capital University coat drive gives students, staff, and faculty an opportunity to donate new or gently used coats for the less fortunate in the Columbus area. Every coat counts! Coats can be dropped off at the CSLD Office or at other designated locations around campus.
Homelessness Awareness Week
October 23-28
This week-long series of homelessness awareness and service events will take place the week of October 23-28, culminating with the Columbus Make a Difference Day Picnic for the Homeless on Saturday, October 28 th. Students interested in getting involved should sign up to participate in the various activities on the CSLD Office door.
World AIDS Day
Friday, December 1
This event will take place on Friday, December 1 st and may include various AIDS awareness activities such as free HIV testing, speaker(s), candlelight vigil, etc. Students interested in getting involved should sign up to participate in the various activities on the CSLD Office door. |
