Service Organizations

Most organizations on campus have a service component along with their other activities. These organiztions listed below are focused on service.


Capateers
Capateers provides a chance to get involved in the community,  to make friends, and to make a difference through volunteering.  Membership is flexible and offers the option to organize your own projects.  Past projects include Interfaith Hospitality Network, Salesian Center Boys and Girls Club, Children's Hospital, CROP Walk, 30-Hour Famine, Columbus Parks and Recreation, and many more.
Circle K
Circle K is an international organization affiliated with Kiwanis International.  Capital's Circle K strives to serve the community through professional and personal development and to create fellowship among students.  Circle K also offers the opportunity for leadership development through district and national conventions.  Events include Project Open Hand, Meals on Wheels, Ronald McDonald House, Hayride Trip, Halloween Party for St. Stephens Family Center, an end of the year banquet, and others. 
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a new organization at Capital.  Our chapter recently became a part of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing.  Members work with Greater Columbus Habitat for Humanity to build homes locally and provide education on the issue of homelessness.  Each year the organization sponsors a spring break service trip (for info on last year's trip, click HERE).  Past destinations include San Francisco, Miami and Los Angeles.
Alpha Phi
Omega
Alpha Phi Omega is a national co-ed service fraternity.  Service and philanthropy events include Red Cross blood drives, clothing collection for Volunteers of America, serving meals at Faith Mission, assisting Girl Scouts with cookie sales, the Baby Buggy Run, and various projects with the Open Shelter of Columbus.  Alpha Phi Omega's motto is: "Be a friend, be a leader, be of service."
Phi Beta
Phi Beta is a professional co-ed fraternity for individuals interested in the creative and performing arts.  Members strive to encourage high professional standards, to support creative and performing arts endeavors, and to live a life of service.  The group participates in weekly service projects that use members' talents to better the community.  Yearly projects include the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Christmas in April Rebuild Day and Interfaith Hospitality Network.
Alpha Phi Alpha  Fraternity, Inc.
Alpha Phi Alpha was the first Greek fraternity established for African Americans.  Its principles include scholarship, fellowship, good character and the uplifting of humanity.  Alpha Phi Alpha has long stood at the forefront of the African American community fight for civil rights.  Members come from campuses in the Columbus metropolitan area.
Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc.
Delta Sigma Theta is a sisterhood of predominantly black, college educated women and was founded to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to people in need.  The sorority focuses on educational development, economic development, physical and mental health, political awareness and involvement, and international awareness and involvement.  Capital students are members of a city-wide chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
