Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week
March 14th – 20th

Be immersed in educating and moving the campus to action against issues of hunger and homelessness during the Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in the spring. Information will be circulated around campus during the week, using a variety of mediums to encourage students, faculty and staff to be aware of the problems that surround them and the people of our world. Many creative events will be happening during the week!

Monday, March 14
Youth… Children… School… Family… Life… Do these words make you think “homeless”? Hear what youth who are homeless have to say. Meet in SA Living Room at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, March 15 – Two events
Welfare: Is it Enough? Food Stamps…How much do they provide? To what extent does the Food Stamp program alleviate hunger in our community? Take part in a Food Stamp Simulation in the MDR from 5:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

*Volunteer at Mid-Ohio Food Bank
2:00p.m. – 4:00p.m.
Sign-up at the Community Service and Leadership Development Office

Wednesday, March 16

*Oxfam Banquet
The Oxfam Hunger Banquet is a powerful tool that brings to life the inequalities in our world and challenges us—as the more economically fortunate—to realize how our decisions affect others in the world. Few leave an Oxfam Hunger Banquet with full stomachs, but all leave filled with a greater understanding of the problems of global hunger and poverty and the motivation to do something about it.
Schneider Lounge
7:00p.m.

Thursday, March 17
*Box City
People all of the world are homeless and hungry even here in Ohio. Help raise awareness and donations by sleeping outside in the Box City. Schaaf Lawn Set up begins 2:00p.m.

Friday, March 18 – Two events
*Volunteer at Mid-Ohio Food Bank
2:00p.m. – 4:00p.m.
Sign-up at the Community Service and Leadership Development Office

*Bowling Night
Come out and hang out, bowl, and eat pizza with kids from Volunteers of America’s After School Program. This event is limited to the first 30 students volunteers. Sign up at the Community Service and Leadership Development Office.

Saturday, March 19
*Volunteer Projects
Spend the day helping and learning more about your community.
*Habitat for Humanity

Sunday, March 20
*Empty Bowls Dinner
