Free Peer Tutoring ServicesPeer Tutoring is a free service of the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) and is an important part of your academic success here at Capital. Peer tutoring helps you build on your classroom learning by teaching you to study, write, and think more effectively. The Peer Tutors are undergraduate students who are recommended by faculty, undergo training, and are skilled in tutoring a variety of subjects, including:
One-on-one and group tutoring begins at the start of the third week of fall semester and the second week of spring semester. Regularly scheduled hours for writing tutoring, math tutoring, group study and review sessions, and Supplemental Instruction sessions are announced near the beginning of each fall and spring semester (see below). Students can get tutorial assistance in a variety of ways:
Much tutoring takes place in the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), which is located in the Learning Center, Room 100. To schedule an appointment just stop in at the center, or call Lisa Miller at 236-6327. When you come to the CELT for tutoring, please make sure you bring a copy of your assignment and any notes or drafts you've completed. If you have any questions or would like additional information about peer tutoring, contact Academic Services Coordinator Bruce Epps at 236-6461. The Writing CenterWriting

Students may call the CELT office at 236-6327 to schedule an appointment with a Math Tutor; drop-in tutoring is also available during the above times if no appointments have been made. It is best to call the CELT office beforehand to make sure the tutor scheduled is qualified for your specific math course. All Math Tutors also are available for independently arranged tutoring sessions at other times, including evenings. Pick up a copy of the Tutor Yellow Pages in the center LC 100 for a list of all tutors for all subjects (including math) and how to contact them. Study and Review (S&R) andSupplemental Instruction (SI)Study and Review and Supplemental Instruction sessions are designed to provide students enrolled in certain courses with additional opportunities for study, review, and test preparation. These sessions are run on an open drop-in basis, so no appointments are necessary. Each S&R and SI session is conducted by a highly qualified and trained Peer Facilitator or SI Leader. This semester the CELT is offering Study and Review and Supplemental Instruction sessions for these courses:
