Report on the Quality of Teacher Education in Ohio
Title
II, section 207 of the Higher Education Act (1998) mandates three
annual reports on the quality of teacher preparation:
- Institutions
of higher education (IHEs) report to states about their programs
- States
report to the U.S. Department of Education about their IHEs
and licensure requirements
- U.S.
Department of Education reports to Congress and the public
about the quality of teacher preparation in the nation
The
purpose of these reports is twofold: (1) to inform the public
about teacher preparation, state requirements for teaching and
standards for the teaching profession and (2) to improve the quality
of teaching.
Since
2001, states have reported annually to the federal government.
