Capital’s
Post Degree Teacher Licensure Option (PDTL) provides options within
the traditional undergraduate program. The program leads to Ohio
licensure and attempts to make the process as reasonable as possible
for working adults by:
-
Evaluating the candidate’s transcripts to transfer credits
for similar course work.
-
Providing an assessment of the potential candidate’s work
and volunteer experiences to consider the waiver of some requirements.
-
Attempting to arrange flexible programming of classes and some
field work, recognizing that many candidates continue to earn
a livelihood while preparing to teach.
-
Informing students about the requirements for alternative and
supplemental licensure.
-
Aiding candidates in selecting some courses at other colleges
that can satisfy Capital’s requirements, yet provide a convenient
work and study schedule. (Note: Fifty percent of new coursework
must be done at Capital University.)
Admission
to Capital’s PDTL program requirements:
-
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
with a 2.5 GPA.
-
Initial transcript review with the PDTL coordinator.

A second review with a content specialist.
