Experiential
Learning
Credit
Capital's
tradition of excellence and experience in adult higher education
is illustrated in its Experiential Learning Credit program, which
has served learners since 1984. This program awards credit
for learning gained through experience outside the classroom.
The
Portfolio Development course, LPS 299, teaches you how to assemble
information concerning the learning outcomes of your life and
career experiences as Portfolios of Learning Outcomes. These portfolios
demonstrate how you have met specific course goals and objectives
based on learning from work and life experiences. Portfolios
are reviewed by a panel of faculty experts to determine the number
of college credit hours to be awarded.
Capital's
faculty advisers are essential in determining learning experiences
that may earn you up to 30 credits toward graduation at
no additional charge. After 30 hours, the charge is only
$10 per credit hour awarded. Portfolio credit hours do not
count toward the 30-hour residency requirement.
