Family and Community Concentrate

Family and Community Health Concentrate Courses

Master of science in nursing (MSN) students following the family and community concentrate must take the following courses. The minimum requirement for this degree concentrate is 36 semester hours. It must be completed within five years.

Graduate Core (8-9 credit hours)

All of these courses must be completed before the 700-level courses.

  HTS3505 The Church and Political Ethics (2)**
  HTS3507 Business Ethics & Ministry of the Laity (2)**
  HTS2051 Christian Ethics (2)

Nursing Core (9 credit hours)

These courses may be taken in any order and at any time prior to the 700-level nursing courses.

NUR520 Advanced Nursing Research (3)
NUR530 Nursing Informatics (3)

Concentrate (10 credit hours)

NUR642 and NUR652 may be taken in either order, but both courses must be completed before NUR662 and before the 700 level nursing courses.

Synthesis and Application (minimum 10 credit hours)

These capstone courses, which build on preceding experience, should be taken toward the end of the program. All graduate and nursing core courses must be completed prior to taking these courses. Advisor approval is required to take NUR755 or NUR765 concurrently with a concentrate course.
