a Post-Master's Certificate in Nursing Education
There is a nationwide

of nursing educators. If you are an advanced nurse and are looking
to broaden your career opportunities, Capital University's
post-master's certificate program is for you.
It has been designed
to prepare advanced nurses for teaching positions in collegiate
and service settings.
The program gives
you the essential knowledge and skills you need to succeed in:

You
can specialize in collegiate education, staff development, or continuing
education. Learning
experiences include both theory and concept development as well
as praxis in teaching.
The Curriculum
Four Graduate-Level Courses
(12 semester credits)
Teaching, Learning and
Evaluation in Nursing Education
Fall 2003, 3 semester
credits
You
will survey the theories and strategies for teaching, learning and
evaluation in relationship to learning styles, learning environment,
cultural considerations and the legal and ethical issues of nursing
education.
Teaching-Learning Design
in Nursing
Spring 2004, 4
semester credits
You will focus
on the design of teaching-learning experiences that are congruent
with mission, philosophy and goals as they relate to nursing education.
You will study
curriculum frameworks, lesson plans, learning objectives, measurement
of learning outcomes and curriculum evaluation.
You will participate
in a variety of field activities with faculty in both classroom
and clinical settings.
Use of Technology in Education
Summer 2004, 2
semester credits
You will examine
course management systems, distance learning, online learning, interactive
television, criterion-based selection of media and the legal and
ethical issues related to the use of technology in nursing education.
Role Development in Advanced
Nursing
Fall 2004, 3 semester
credits
You will get 50
hours of field experience in nursing education in association with
an expert nursing faculty member.
You will explore
role development, role responsibility, role issues and evaluation
in nursing education in seminar discussions.
Admission Requirements
To
be admitted to the certificate program you must have:
- A
bachelor of science in nursing degree and a master's degree in
nursing or a master's degree in a related health field from an
NLN- or CCNE-accredited program
- An
Ohio RN license
- A
completed application

- Two
professional references
Cost
The
post-master's nursing in education certification program is $330
per semester credit hour.
